A number of cutting-edge and award-winning independent films have been selected for presentation at the 2014 Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival on Oct. 10-11.
Each year, the MIFF showcases fantastic independent films in numerous genres. This year’s theme is “From Bollywood to Hollywood!” to celebrate the incredible contribution India has made to cinema. The MIFF is proud to locally premiere the Bollywood blockbuster “Bang Bang!” starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. Another film sure to garner local attention is Luke and Andrew Wilson’s new comedy “Satellite Beach.” Luke Wilson (“Old School,” “Legally Blonde,” “Idiocracy”) stars, and much of it was shot in Brevard County. A locally produced Bollywood-style music video directed by award-winning Orlando director Steven Shea will feature the song “Stronger” by international recording artist Prita Chhabra and Space Coast dancers celebrating the opening of the spectacular Manav Mandir temple. The festival includes special celebrity guests, red carpet welcomes, wine-tastings, live music with recording artists Robin & Eddy, and several panel discussions on filmmaking, all at the beautiful Premiere Theaters Oaks 10. But what sets the MIFF apart is that all the funds they raise go to charity. This year’s event helps support No Limits Academy .
